Tenggerese
Tenggerese is local
people who live around Mount Bromo, they are Hindus. Tenggerese are identic
with performances like tying a “sarong” wrapped around neck or hung on shoulder.
They have a simple life. They do farming as their routine activity, but some of
them do businesses in tourism by providing accommodation for tourists. Jeep,
Motor Trail, Horse are accommodation they provide to meet the needs of
tourists.
Yadnya Kasada
Every year Tenggerese
do Yadnya Kasada or Kasodo. It is Tenggerese’s traditional ceremony by offering
vegetables, chickens and money that thrown into volcano's crater to be offered
to gods as a manifestation of their gratitude. Kasodo commonly held during the
full moon in tenth month of Javanese calendar.
HOW TO GET THERE?
If you already know a little bit of exoticism of mount Bromo, so how to get to Mount Bromo?
There are four routes
that you can use to go to Mount Bromo. There are through Probolinggo City,
Malang City, Pasuruan City and Lumajang City.
If you travel by plane,
the closest track is Malang City because this city has an airport. But if you drive
car or by train you can get through these four cities above.

1 Peak is one view point to watch and enjoy sunrise at Mount Bromo. Located in
west side, this spot is a place that must be visited by tourists when traveling
to Mount Bromo.
To
get to location you can use Jeep services which can easily be found around
Mount Bromo. Or if you like to exercise, you can walk to get to this place,
guided by a local guide.

to enjoy the sunrise here is different compared to other view point because Penanjakan
1 has a background view of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, Mount Meja & Mount
Semeru.

Camping
If

could feel the chill of night at Mount Bromo while enjoying toast and a glass

for this purpose, it can be found near the entrance of “Bromo Tengger Semeru
National Park”.

will be offered a choice of routes that can be taken. The more routes you want
to take, then the cost will be greater.

The
crater of Mount Bromo
To
get to Mount Bromo crater, you can rent a Jeep or riding Horse that available
around Mount Bromo. When traveling to Mount Bromo crater, you will pass through
sea of sand that is very interesting.
After
arriving at Mountain slope you have to climb stairs to get to the peak of Bromo
crater.
The
phenomenon of amazing active volcanic mountain will show on the edge of Mount
Bromo crater. From this peak you can also see the sea of sand and Mount Semeru that
is highest mountain in Java.
The
crater of Mount Bromo is a small hole that emits white sulfur fumes. You need
to be careful up here because the terrain is very steep, hot gases generated
from the crater is also very dangerous. Most of the hot gas hydrogen sulfide
(H2S) will gush directly upwards.

Sea
of Sand
The
sea of sand
stretches 10 km and is located not far from the stairs of crater Mount Bromo. This
Se of sand named “Segara Wedi” by local peopel. When the wind blows, the sand
will fly and cause a faint sound like the voice of person whispered.
To
be able to enjoy the beauty of Sand Sea, you can walk or hire a horse that has
been prepared about the location. Do not forget to wear a mask covering your
mouth and glasses because sand fly can disturb your view.

Savanna
Savanna
is one of Mount Bromo attraction that becomes next destination after visiting
Bromo crater and mountain climbing. This savanna is located on south slope of
Mount Bromo, to reach this location takes about 15 minutes.
This
savanna splayed on top of a large hill surrounded by small hills around it. The
hills are in a blanket by a beautiful green grass roofed blue sky and decorated
by some small trees beside the plant, the atmosphere is similar to the
background on children TV show Teletubbies so many people named this hill as
Teletubbies hill.
ACCOMMODATION
Mount Bromo tourist
area has been facilitated by good accommodation, inns, hotels, restaurants, and
souvenir stalls are there.
If you want to get
close to Mount Bromo peak, then you might like to take a cheap lodging in “Cemoro
Lawang”. Therefore, the village is located on the slopes of the crater. If your
time is flexible, you can take a hotel or guesthouse in Tretes, Pasuruan, or
Malang. These cities have mileage close to Bromo.
